Alan Watson Hip Hop Dance
Born and raised in
St. Paul, Minnesota, Alan has choreographed multiple groups in the
Midwest
ranging from Hip-Hop to Musical Theater. Alan has been dancing since he
was 13, when he started popping, waving and gliding. In 2005, he began
working professionally as a choreographer with award-winning performance
groups in the Midwest. He has worked under choreographers such as
Michael Weaver, Pavan Thimmiah, Tina Vasquez, Tara Tober, and
participated in the Masterclass Camp at Valparaiso University in the
summer of 2005. Alan joined up with Pavan in Fall 2005 and has since performed in the PMT Seasonal Showcases. He is a member of PMT Dance Company and has performed in various venues with the company, including the CNE in Toronto, Canada, the International Dance Festival in New York City, and the company’s own show “Struck” in 2008. He was recently featured in recording artist's RAIN's music video. He has taught Hip Hop at NYU, PMT Dance Studio, New York Public Schools, and Legacy Dance studio in Minnesota.

Class Descriptions: Basic Hip Hop Intensive Class Description: Alan Watson will be teaching the Basic Hip Hop Dance Intensive using the same techniques featured in the upcoming PMT Basic Hip Hop Dance Instructional Video featuring Pavan Thimmaiah, Alan Watson and members of PMT Dance Company. He will continue to teach the techniques and movements previously taught by Pavan Thimmaiah while adding his own unique elements to the class.
Hip Hop Dance Class Description: The class begins with with a warm-up which incorporates hip hop techniques and movement. Throughout the class moves are broken down and taught at the class's pace. The latter portion of the class will focus on choreography and musicality. Most Alan's movements draw from freestyle movement as well as funk styles of hip hop. Students will learn to extend their dance vocabulary as well as improve their performance quality.
