Arturo Perez Saad Swing Dance
Arturo J. Pérez Saad invites you to actively participate in the dance through movement, syncopation and musicality. He emphasizes the connection to cross over disciplines while keeping the joy in social dance. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico Arturo began dancing at a very early age to Latin Rhythms; his family then moved to New Orleans, where he was exposed to the music and dance of Zydeco, Cajun, Blues, Brass Hop and Swing genres. Currently his dance repertoire encompasses over 30 different types of dance techniques. He completed his MFA at Pratt Institute in New York City. He has performed with the Jitterbug Kids, Fusha Dance Company and George Gee’s Jump, Jivin’ Wailers as well as various other companies and events. Arturo can be found performing and teaching at Swing 46 and various other venues throughout New York City. As a choreographer, Arturo is currently working with the Boys & Girls High School Drama Club on the production of FAME in Spring 2010. Class Description: Does listening to Jazz and Blues make your feet move? Ever wondered how to dance with a partner? Arturo’s Swing Dance class will get you dancing in no time. Arturo brings a unique style to Swing Dance by keeping the joy in the dance by fusing together various dance forms. You will learn the fundamentals of the dance from connection to lead and following skills, rhythm, timing, basic patterns and vocabulary.
