Leanne Bowman Jazz Dance
Leanne Bowman has been a dancer/choreographer/teacher in New York City since 2003. Her dance career began in Houston, Texas more than twenty years ago, where she trained in all forms of dance and was a member of the Houston Metropolitan Dance Company. After attending Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theatre Project for three years, she decided to make a permanent move to New York City. To continue her dance education, she studied at Broadway Dance Center and began assisting Frank Hatchett as a VOP staff member in2004. She is also a substitute teacher for Heather Oberly, and Debbie Wilson at Broadway Dance Center. Leanne has studied and competed in Latin Ballroom with training from Tony Meredith, Melanie LaPatin, and Vibeke Toft at Dance Times Square. Leanne’s professional credits include the role of “Girls in Pearls” in the movie The Producers, in which she also tapped on the soundtrack recording of the film. She has appeared in Revolutionary Road, Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing, and both Sex and the City movies, along with numerous background appearances in recent films. She has several television credits, including Law and Order, Fashion on Ice as a background singer for Sarah Brightman, and as a backup dancer for Fergie at VH1 Fashion Rocks! She choreographed a national PSA for Drug Free America. Leanne appeared in the Paper Mill Playhouse production, Of Thee I Sing and was the Wild Strawberry model for the 2009 Crystal Light print campaign. She has appeared in showcases at Broadway Dance Center, PMT Dance Studui, Dance Times Square, and Sirens NYC. While continuing to study dance with various teachers throughout the city, Leanne works with dance studios and also individual dancers with an emphasis on technique and choreography for dance competitions and reality television auditions.
Teaching Schedule: Section 1.8- Advanced Beginner/Intermediate Jazz Dance Performance Workshop - Sunday 4:00 - 5:30pm *NEW WORKSHOP*
Class Description: Leanne’s class is energetic and full of encouragement and fun. A strong focus on jazz technique and style will be used in a 45 minute warm-up and choreographed combination.
