Ina Roy Bollywood Dance
Ina Roy of East Indian origin was drawn in by the glamorous dancers from Bollywood movies at a very young age. She was motivated, schooled and inspired by her mother's love for dance, and all forms of artistic expression. Her first public performance at age five was noticed by her dance mentor, and her formal training in Indian Classical and Folk Dance commenced. It was during her teenage years that she realized her passion for other dance forms such as jazz, hip hop, Afro-Caribbean/reggae, cabaret, belly-dance, Latin and more. She began combining her Indian roots of classical, traditional folk and Bollywood dance with the modern movements to create what is described as Fusion. It is in this place of fusion that Ina feels at the most liberty to express herself through physical movement. Others also began noticing her talent and magnetic energy as she began to choreograph/perform as a soloist, and as well as a back-up dancer for various recording artists. Ina has choreographed/performed in prestigious events, venues, featured in films/videos, and has been focused on by various North American media outlets earning her a solid reputation as an acclaimed Dancer/Choreographer. Ina became the first female of ethnic origin to choreograph with Brad Denys who is also a choreographer for Cirque du Soleil. She was chosen to choreograph and dance for the Bollywood Music Awards, and for well known artists such as Shaan, Stereo Nation to name a few. Ina also performed in North America's largest South Asian Festival Masala!Mehndi!Masti! in Toronto as well as many others. She also has danced alongside celebrity Wyclef Jean in India, Recently Ina worked with “Slumdog Millionaire” choreographer Longinus Fernandes for “Bollywood Hero" starring Saturday Night Live’s Chris Kattan and Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia.
