Marlon
Mills is one of New York’s most well-known salsa dance personalities, having
traveled to many congresses and events in the states and throughout the
Caribbean.
Marlon was born in NY to parents
from the Caribbean and was educated in NY & Spain, earning a B.S. in
Physical Education upon graduation from Hunter College. His drive to learn
salsa became quite apparent after studying in Madrid, Spain. He found his
love of salsa in 2001, having been taken to a class by a co-worker and has
not looked back since. His dancing career began under the guidance of Eddie
& Maria Torres. He has trained with some of the best in the business,
including Eddie & Maria Torres, Jimmy Anton, Delille Thomas, Thomas
Guerrero, and last, but certainly not least Victor Mayovanex – founder and
director of Karisma Dance Company.
He is a member of the renowned
Karisma Dance Company, known for their elegance and precision, and has been
with them for the past four years. He currently teaches classes in NY for
Karisma and has also taught in Dublin, Ireland, Hong Kong, and at the
prestigious New York University. He has performed salsa for films,
television, festivals, and on stage at congresses and many famous venues in
the USA.
In addition, he teaches ballroom
dance to public school kids in the ‘Dancing Classrooms’ program and is the
international correspondent for Mambo Fateegz – known worldwide for
outstanding, creative salsa apparel and for producing the NY Salsa
Congress. Marlon also hosts a very successful weekly Tuesday night salsa
party, which recently received a great review from NY Post/Tempo magazine.
His goals are to continue dancing,
teaching, traveling the world, and positively impacting the lives of others.
