Nick Seligson-Ross was raised throughout the USA but mostly in Colorado. Nick holds a BFA from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY-Purchase. Nick has been member of Peter Pucci Plus Dancers since 2002. He has worked with such companies as H.T. Chen and Dancers, Amy Marshall Dance Company, Jennifer Muller/The Works and Michael Mao Dance Company to name a few. Nick has toured all over the US & the World, including Brazil, Europe and a one-month tour to Mainland China.

In 2003, Nick formed Nicholas Andre Dance Theater, as the artistic director and choreographer.  His choreography credits include “Dwelling”, “Ever Running”, “Between the Lines” and “Crossroads” to name a few. “Crossroads” in the fall of 2004 was nominated for a Time-Out NY Viewers Choice Award. His company has performed in Colorado, New Jersey, New York City, Oregon, South Carolina, and Virginia.  In the coming years NADT is touring to many more states and hopefully overseas. There are currently four pre-professional companies/college dance departments performing work choreographed by Mr. Seligson-Ross, including Richard Stockton College and in 2006-2007 Nick will be working with dancers at SUNY-Purchase, Richmond University and Cedar Crest College setting his work there as well. Nick is always interested in creating new works on young dancers as he finds that there is a great level of curiosity with those dancers as well as an enormous passion for the art of dance.

Nick has served on the dance faculty at Adelphi University as an adjunct professor of dance and also has taught in New York City at the 92nd St Y/Harkness Dance Center, Richard Stockton College in New Jersey, Cedar Crest College in Pennsylvania, and at local schools in California, Colorado, Texas, South Carolina, Virginia, and in Brazil in 1999. Nick has also taught at Hofstra University, Houston Community College, Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, USDAN Center for the Performing and Creative Arts, the School for the Arts in Denver, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, and Rollings School for the Arts.

Class Description:

This class is intended to introduce students to Mr. Seligson-Ross style of dance which stems from the Paul Taylor & Jennifer Muller background. This class works on strengthening technique from the core. Repertory from Nicholas Andre Dance Theater will be taught in the class, along with new contemporary movement. Dancers taking this class should already have a strong ballet background and have studied modern or jazz dance. The class will be action-packed with lots of movement.

Throughout the class the students will warm up their bodies in order to be able to learn movements from the repertory as well as work on basic technique, needed for the physical style in which the company demonstrates in the repertory. The student will also be taught the use of mental preparation as a tool for dancers, using visualization as a helpful technique.
