Janete Silva

Afro Brazilian Dance

 

    

     Janete Silva has studied dance since childhood and has performed with various local and international companies such as Dance Brazil (NY), Bale Folclorico da Bahia (Brazil), Bahia Brazil (Los Angeles), Orquestra Popular da Bahia (Brasil), Freddiek Bratcher and Company(Miami).  She has studied Afro-Brazilian Dance, Ballet, Modern Dance and Silvestre Technique. She has also appears as a dance on Singer Star Ivete Sangalo recent DVD.  Currently, Janete is a master dance teacher at Gotta Dance Atlanta, Ballethnic Dance Academy and Imzadi Urban Dance.  Participation the Lowell Folk Festival (Lowell) and National Black arts Festival (Atl-Ga).  Dance performance (Brazilian Independence Day Celebration Atl-Ga), and Houston Brazilian Festival 2008 & 2009.

Class Description:

The culture of Brazil is a colorful blend of different ethnicities. The African influences are strongest in the North. Afro-Brazilian dance is full of spontaneous, soulful, exotic, and energetic movement that will energize your body and spirit.  The classes present sequences and exercises to prepare the body for uplifting and exciting dances from northern Brazil. You will learn to develop Rhythm & Coordination, stay fit, relieve stress, and of course learn about Brazilian culture.

Styles include: Samba, Samba de Roda, Axé, Afro-Brazilian, Sambareggae, and Afoxé.
