Christopher ‘'Push" Costa, Born and raised outside of Boston, MA., started Bboyng in high school, performing in shows and rallies. At the age of 18, he moved to NYC where he became a regular in underground street dance scene competing is battles and building a community of Bboys to share practice space with. Drawing inspiration from many of PMT’s teachers, he began to mix Waving, House, and Animation into his breaking.
In 2012, Chris taught a yearlong youth breaking program in Queens for ages 4-16, along with adult workshops. He now performs with ‘Freestyle Expression’ company, and has weekly shows with funk band ‘Days of Wild’ lead by Papa Guyo (Sly and The Family Stone), and with New York’s own Akim Funk Buddha and at venues such as BAM, B.B. Kings, Nublu, The Red Lion, NYSOM, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, Sapphire, and more.
Discovering PMT as student in the Breakin' 201 class when taught by its founder Pavan Thimmaiah, Chris 'Push' Costa has gone on to train in the NYC dance scene and now has come full circle to become successor to the class. Under the guidance of Pavan Thimmaiah, he will true to the original intentions of the class while bringing a heavy dose of his own unique style of experience.
This workshop will focus on musicality, tops and drops using transitions within the bboy realm. We will be switching levels from top to bottom. Students are expected to learn how to work with the music and express themselves with great rhythm.
