About the Program Director - Pavan 'PMT' Thimmaiah

With extensive expertise in dance education, having taught and mentored college dancers at New York University, Wagner College, and Franklin & Marshall College, and served as guest faculty at University of California, Irvine, his teaching emphasizes not only technique and performance, but also a deep understanding of dance’s cultural roots, history, and foundations our award winning faculty, students with higher aspirations - including professional ones - will have access to a program that offers an open exploration of the culture, history and training provided in the proper context. ​​​​

This course explores the foundational pedagogical principles of dance education, preparing students to develop an ethical, adaptable, and informed teaching practice. It examines how the dance marketplace and various educational contexts shape the role of the educator across different levels of training. Students will also investigate how cultural, environmental, social, and economic factors influence teaching, while gaining insight into cross-training and somatic practices. Emphasis is placed on creating safe, inclusive, and responsible learning environments!​​​

 

 

5h Program Enrollment includes:

  • 2h interactive lecture to understand the basic elements of pedagogy and the dance marketplace;

  • 1h of Practical lessons;

  • 2h of Q&A with the best professionals in the field;

30h Program Enrollment includes: COMING SOON FOR FALL SEASON!

  • 30h minimum of pedagogical/ practical practice;

  • Discount of 10% for drop in classes, to improve your training skills (purchases only in person);

  • FREE SPACE, for training purposes (upon availability);

  • Class observation and assistance, to understand different teaching techniques;

  • Practical experience - assist teachers in real classes or host your own class!

  • Lectures with the best professionals in the field;

  • Certification and letter of recommendation at the end of the course.

TERMS AND POLICIES

 

Requirements and Expectations

All students will be held to the same accountability we hold our own professionals. We want our trainees to be the leaders of our dance community. As such, those participating in the program will have to meet and maintain the following:

 

1. Attend all classes, recitations, extra practices and meetings.

2. Must maintain their course work (for programs with season long durations, only).

TERMS

When enrolling, you are agreeing to these terms. Please read them carefully before enrolling. Many of these policies apply to the season long programs.

​

  • All purchases are non-refundable.

  • Failure to meet any requirements shall be grounds to dismiss the student from this program without refund. This includes, but is not limited to, failure to meet attendance requirements, failure to fully participate in classes or other required elements of the program or for behavior detrimental to other students or PMT House of Dance.

  • Free space (season long programs, only) - This is provided for trainee goals, professional development, self-tapes, performance projects or other trainee related programs. Free space allocation must be approved and is subject to studio rental policy. Unapproved space use shall not be provided for free. Free space is available from the start of the season to the end of the season, only.

  • Missed or lost classes cannot be redeemed, exchanged or refunded. It is the student's responsibility to attend classes and make arrangements to make up missed material. More than 2 absences or the inability to keep up with course work is grounds for dismissal from the program.

  • Students will be allowed to enter class only after their registration is completed and their program(s) is paid for completely.

  • All students will be asked to sign a waiver of liability. Students shall indemnify PMT House of Dance, their partners, teachers, staff, contracted workers and subsidiaries from any liabilities or loss, either physical, property, personal or otherwise. All students are attending classes/rehearsals and performing at their own risk and in accordance with the schedule provided to them by PMT House of Dance herein and/or via email correspondence or written material(s). 

  • Times for classes may be rescheduled with notice and in accordance with student availability.
